The last few weeks, I’ve seen a number of Never Hero fans express fear that The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs series is dead. Clearly, I am late with providing an update, because…

*In case this reference is too vague

2016, may have taken a lot of lives—but it will never take our Sequel!

Yes, the The Never Paradox is very far behind my original projections. When I first published The Never Hero, I thought I would have this thing wrapped up before 2015 ended. Well, it probably goes without saying that if I could, I would reach back in time and slap that overly optimistic version of myself. There isn’t much for me to say other than “I’m sorry”—a lot of life kept happening. I won’t bore you with the details…but I will tell you that the sequel became a better book with every delay.

In October, I sent the final draft of The Never Paradox manuscript off to my editor. I recently received it back with over 16,000 points of feedback.

Okay, okay, everyone calm down!… I was pretty burnt out when I sent TNP over—didn’t have the energy left to do a final run through for typos. Most of those feedback points are very quick grammar errors. There were only three isolated sections with recommended re-writes, and they are very minor.

So here is the deal:

  • My wife is 8 months pregnant
  • My son [working title: Xander Hodges] is due to be born on January 10th
  • I DO NOT WANT TO BE WORKING ON THIS SEQUEL WHEN HE GETS HERE!

Now we all know delivery dates are never exact,  but let me beat you to the punch-line and point out that they are far more accurate then T. Ellery’s initial sequel release projections. So here it is folks, I’m challenging myself to a race against time… because that makes it sound more dramatic.

If you look at the homepage, you’ll notice some new progress reporting bars along the right-hand side.  I am going to try and update these with my daily progress.

You can use them to check in on the state of things, cheer me on, or… you know, yell when the bars don’t move…

I mean… case you were curious…

I’d prefer the cheering…

You got this, T! While I’m stoked for the next one, I don’t want you killing yourself to put it out. You have a lot going on and it’s makes progress slow, with good reason too. I want to say Congratulations on the soon to be birth of your little hero. No doubt it’s been tough to make progress during the pregnancy but you’re still moving forward. If you want to be done by the 10th then you’ve got my support, but don’t kill yourself doing it. Anyway, I’m quite happy for you and your wife, be safe this holiday season and enjoy it!

YEAH! Good job sir and congratulations on the baby! I’m totally rooting for you to get the book done before the birth, which would like up with the next installment of Cradle by Will Wight, and I’ll be SET for the start of the year!

Seriously folks, give him a break, I’m sure getting his wife pregnant took a lot of time up and I don’t think we can begrudge him that. Instead shelve your complaints until 2am after the infant has woken him for the umpteenth time and ask him where that deadline is now.

As I just finished reading (listening to) Book one 10 minutes ago, this update is especially awesome. Thank you for sharing your gift of writing with me. As a quadriplegic, trapped in an immovable shell, I gain new life by immersing myself in well crafted novels and yours has become one of my favorite. I hope you will use Steven Barnett to narrate the audiobook version, he really brought your characters to life for me.
Congratulations on the impending arrival of your son.

      Hi Jonathan,

The original call was sent out to an email list/newsletter I keep called the Never Army Insiders.

Anyone can sign up, but the list is for people who want to hear from me more often–not just for product announcements– You can sign up here: http://theneverhero.com/never-army-insiders.html

However, this far along, if you are specifically looking to be a beta reader on The Never Paradox I would recommend dropping me an email here: telleryhodges@theneverhero.com.

I’ll send you back a list of beta reader commitments, and if you feel you can agree to them then I’ll add you to the list.

Thanks for reading! Appreciate your interest in the series!

Congratulations on the little addition to your family!

Best wishes getting it all done before the big day. I’m personally hoping you get it published on January 9th. Big “Happy Birthday” gift, if it is. 😉

    Cheers! (And much cheering!!)

So… It’s after the 10th. Have a minute to give us a quick update? Maybe a comment here, instead of a full post, if you’re busy changing diapers?

    Thank you! 👍😁
